Celebrated Comic Creator Gerry Conway Has Died at 73

Gerry Conway has died at 73. He wrote many issues of, "Amazing Spider-Man," after Stan Lee left the book decades ago. These issues resulted in his co-creation of such character as the Punisher. Conway also was involved in the creation of the hated-killed-brought back and now popular antihero character Jason Todd. Conway penned the story of Gwen Stacy's death, introduced Marvel's take on Dracula, helped create Power Girl as well as Killer Croc...and the list just goes on for all the stuff he did. Conway served at one point as Marvel's Editor-in-Chief, wrote for movies and television, and was outspoken about the rights of comic creators as well as the use of the Punisher logo by far-right groups misappropriating the symbol. Conway wrote one of my favorite lesser-discussed comic stories, "The Last Days of Animal Man," which I continue to be surprised got slept on by so many folks. He is survived by his wife and children and will be missed.
