Tropical 7-UP is Like a Slap of Mango to the Face--in a Good Way

I had the chance to try Tropical 7-UP (the zero-calorie iteration) the other day. It's the latest promotional flavor out there (after initially being a Kroger exclusive) and I'm a sucker for gimmick sodas, of course, so I had to get some. When Samii and I tried it we noticed it tasted heavily of mango and had a hint of peach (peaches aren't tropical either, but whatever) with 7-UP. What's interesting is that compared to its closest competitor (Sprite), 7-UP has always had a lighter and gentler taste. That isn't the case with the Tropical iteration, as the mango flavor comes right up and makes its presence known. Hence, Tropical 7-UP almost reminds me of Sprite more than regular 7-UP, as weird as that sounds--and it's not a bad thing!

If you've ever thought 7-UP tasted a bit too, "Weak," then you'll probably quite like this new Tropical 7-UP as it isn't scared to throw the tropical tastes at you. I enjoyed drinking it and find it evokes the flavors of Summer in a pleasant way. It's worth trying, in other words.

I Tried that New Starry Soda--A Review

Pepsico announced it was getting rid of Sierra Mist and in its place, we'd be getting something called, "Starry." Reactions to this news were mixed. Some folks really like Sierra Mist and others were totally indifferent to the drink that Pepsi basically created in an attempt to compete with Sprite. Starry has been hitting store shelves and I've tried it. It's fine.

Starry tastes more like Sprite than Sierra Mist did, so if that was the Pepsi Corporation's whole point of doing this, then congrats to them. It has that crisp almost, "Spicy," kick that Sprite has, but otherwise is not special in any way. It just tastes a lot like Sprite. Now, I wasn't overly connected to Sierra Mist as I've always preferred Sprite, but settled for Sierra Mist when necessary. Now, I'll basically prefer Sprite and settle for Starry when the situation calls for it. I'm apparently an old Millenial, however, and this drink is targeted squarely at those Gen-Z kids who refuse to get off my lawn. Perhaps they'll dig it, but I'm indifferent.
