Earth Day 2026

It's Earth Day in 2026. I hope we have an Earth in the near future that is habitable based on current environmental regulations being rolled back, the threat of a nuclear war inching ever closer, and so forth. Do your best to care for the planet, even though you engaging in conservation/recycling only makes so much of a difference when huge conglomerates are polluting willy-nilly. It's funny, you know, I used to think, "Captain Planet," was way too over-the-top and on the nose with his villains who laughed maniacally about all the money they were making while damaging the planet. 

Just as we owe George Lucas an apology for his, "Star Wars," prequels about unchecked executive powers and wars over trade routes, I can only humbly say, "Yeah, Captain Planet actually called it." In the meantime, let's still try to combine our powers to do what we can for Earth. We only get one, as far as we know. As I said, here's hoping we at least have an Earth for Earth Day 2027.

Earth Day 2025

It's April 22nd, 2025. Hence, today is Earth Day. Originating in 1970 as a nationwide demonstration, the goal was to raise awareness about environmental issues and to mobilize public support for environmental protection. Earth Day started as a protest for our planet and its health, in other words. A lot has changed since 1970 for the better and lately for the worse. With efforts being made in the United States to gut the EPA, quit tracking climate change, loosen regulations, and so forth, our Earth continues to be mistreated. Plus, ever since we developed the ability to outright destroy our planet within a day's span of time, thanks to Nuclear Missiles, we've been on the edge of disaster perpetually, if you think about it.

Earth Day is about celebrating our planet and recognizing we need to protect it--generally from ourselves. Whether it is something as simple as not littering and conserving water or something as complex as a major corporation trying to have a zero (or negative) carbon footprint, we all can do our part for Earth. Everybody we know of lives here (besides a handful of astronauts in space), after all, so I'd say we owe Earth some respect.

Earth Day 2024

It's Earth Day, April 22nd. Started in the 70s by Senator Gaylord Nelson to bring awareness to air and water pollution, the holiday has expanded to cover climate change and more. The theme this year is, "Planet vs. Plastics," because--as we've most likely learned--plastics aren't that great for the environment. They're made from petroleum, take forever to decompose, and recycling efforts can only do so much. We only get one Earth (as far as we know) so let's treat it right and try to fix some of the damage we've done to our planet before it is too late. Ice is melting, storms are getting worse, and so forth, but efforts can be made to address our Earth and its concerns. We could've listened to Scientists and Al Gore decades ago but at least he doesn't say, "I told you so." Our planet clearly is in trouble, however. We should try to work together to help it.

We only get one Earth--barring the discovery of an alternate universe we can easily travel to--so let's treat it right! Today is Earth Day, but try and be good to our planet every day. Reduce, reuse, recycle, try to not pollute, you know the drill. Basically, don't be a jerk to our planet.

Happy 50th Earth Day, Despite Things Currently Being a Hot Dumpster Fire on Our Planet

Earth has had its climate quite possibly forever ruined by our refusal to try and protect the environment and currently we are all facing a massive pandemic. This makes it a little tragic that today is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and things are arguably a lot worse now than 50 years ago in a number of ways. Let's not be wholly negative, however, because I hate those people who say things like, 'Humans are the virus," and act like COVID-19 is some magical way of Earth repairing itself by wiping humans out or (even worse) a punishment from God.

This pandemic just helps illustrate how we need to care for our planet and make a better effort to try and plan for things like a Pandemic--something which Trump wholly messed-up to the degree America is now suffering from COVID-19 worse than any other country. Let's try and treat our planet better while also being ready for when things go totally wacky due to how unpredictable this crazy ball of rock and water we call Earth is.
