One of the hot new trends I've noticed with Marvel and DC is re-releasing some of the most popular/beloved/hottest comics in these slightly smaller trade paperbacks AKA compact editions. They are relatively inexpensive compared to bigger graphic novels (especially hardcover ones). They work great for collecting a six or twelve-issue story arc (or mini/maxi-series) and have been pretty popular. A cheap way to sell more comics has been appealing to many, and now Dark Horse Comics is getting in the game as well with their own Compact line of books.
The initial offerings will include the earlier issues of, "Black Hammer," a Cyberpunk 2077 mini-series, an introductory mix of content from Eric Powell's cult hit, "The Goon," and more! I know there are sometimes complaints about how these kinds of compact editions shrink-down art or have iffy paper quality, but people who want a giant collection of stories often have that option, so why not offer an inexpensive way for someone to try out a particular comic as well?
