If you read this blog, you know I love OutKast, AKA the greatest band/musical group of all time. Their sophomore LP, "ATLiens," turned 30 this late August. As many will say (and I agree), without OutKast you just don't (quite arguably) get much of a Southern rap movement. As Andre 3000 put it all those years ago when OutKast won Best New Artist (Group) at the Source Awards for their debut album, "The South's got something to say." For a number of years, OutKast did too.
The group is most likely no more (my random dreams aside), with Big Boi still rapping and Andre pursuing a variety of interests. Neither of them owes us anything, but if they did want to make even one more song, I'd be down for it. The first LP, "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik," is great, but the one-two punch of, "ATLiens," 30 years ago this month, and then, two years later, "Aquemini" helped to confirm just how amazing OutKast was--and still is to this day.
