Juan Jose Ryp is a fantastic comic creator whose work I have followed for decades. From his stuff over at Avatar Press, to when he did some Marvel work (he drew a lovely Moon Knight) and DC, among many other projects. He's a great guy (we've chatted via Facebook where we are friends), and I was intrigued when he discussed a new project he was a part of--"Sugar Bomb: Portal Potty." Yes, a comic featuring the indie hero Sugar Bomb as she utilizes a dimension-traveling toilet. It is intentionally absurd, a bit gross, and as someone who loves potty humor, I'm very amused. They already have me backing--it just launched earlier today.
The creative crew at Fun Time Go! (David Hedgecock, Chase W. Marotz, Et al.) have written a surreal sci-fi superhero parody with a ton of toilet jokes, and Juan Jose Ryp is illustrating it. In other words, you'll be amazed a toilet can look so good with Ryp's involvement! There are an assortment of covers, but for the first 72 hours, there is a special backer option that gets you a nice set of comics and a free mousepad--that is the level I backed! I mean, gorgeous artwork, multiversal travel, and toilets--what else could I need to be convinced? Check out, "Sugar Bomb: Portal Potty," and decide if you vibe with it in the same manner I do--it is already more than halfway to being backed in less than 24 hours (and has that aforementioned promotion) so I expect it to get fully funded and look forward to having the comic in my grubby mitts (hopefully) before too long.
